The Environmental Club meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 2:20-3:15 p.m.

Description
Memorial Middle School is committed to inspiring the next generation to make a connection with, and to care about, our environment. Our club strives to create hands on experiences which would not normally be possible in a typical science or social studies class. In its first year, our club assembled five rain barrels, planted a flower bed and butterfly garden, cleaned up for Earth Day, and planted trees for Arbor Day. We plan to continue with similar activities in the years to come.
Why I Should Join
You should join the Environmental Club if you want to learn new ways to re-purpose materials, enjoy working outside, recycling, and have a love for the Earth! New members are always welcome and you should join our club if you are interested in discovering ways to help the environment.

Criteria for Membership
Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student in good academic standing.
Involvement Expectation
There are two seasons for the Environmental Club: Fall and Spring. Any student will be considered a member in good standing by attending a majority of meetings and events in either of the two seasons. Please note that: after-school sports and other clubs may potentially be meeting at the same time/day. Please join the season that you are most able to attend our meetings and events. Club activities are scheduled to meet twice a month, after school from 2:30-3:30.
Advisor Biographies
Mrs. Martinez is one of the advisors of the Environmental Club. She has been the World Geography and a Public Speaking teacher for the past five and three years, respectively. In geography, she loves learning about cultures of far-away places, what the land looks like there, and how people use the land. Through her studies she sees how the world is interconnected, and therefore what happens to the land in a far-away place, can have can an impact in here, her own backyard.
Mrs. Golden is also an advisor of the Environmental Club. She has been teaching 7th grade science for the past four years. She particularly enjoys life science, which is the study of living organisms. She enjoys this club because it allows her the opportunity to teach outside of the classroom. In this club we are not limited to the four-walls of classroom. Instead, she plans activities which get our members outside and have hands-on experiences with nature.
