Community Cares meets the first Monday of each month from 2:20-3:00 p.m.
The club also hosts and assists in many community events. Please refer to the "Club Calendar" for more information.

Description
The Community Cares Club is made up of interested students from grades 6-8 who share in the common goal of placing others before themselves, fulfilling common dreams and goals for their friends and neighbors. The members learn of a broadened global perspective along with real-world problem solving skills. Students are given the opportunity to extend themselves not only to their immediate school community, but to their surrounding local community as well. The Community Cares Club is available to offer assistance at times of need in our community, as well a coming together for the betterment of our community.
Why I Should Join
I want to participate in community service by: connecting myself with the larger world, volunteering at soup kitchens and shelters, fundraising for humanitarian and charitable organizations, collecting items for food drives, raising funds for particular community causes.

Criteria for Membership
The Community Cares Club is open to all students in grades 6 through 8 who have a desire to work with others and face real life problems and issues.
Involvement Expectation
Students are encouraged to attend scheduled meetings, but must be present at a minimum of 10 meetings per year in order to maintain good standing. Members are expected to participate in 4 club activities throughout the year.
Advisor Biographies
Mrs. Glassen is a science teacher of grades 6 and 8, and has dedicated years of service to various charitable organizations throughout New Jersey. Presently, she has dedicated her time to working with Elijah’s Promise, a community soup kitchen that serves New Brunswick and surrounding areas. Their motto is to harness the power of food to break the cycle of poverty, alleviate hunger, and change lives.
Mrs. Shkolar is the nurse at Memorial Middle School. She prides herself in reaching out to others in need of assistance through fundraising for the American Heart Association, Leukemia Society, American Diabetes Association, and local food pantries and shelters, as well as meeting community members individual medical needs. Her philosophy is to treat others as if they were her own family members.
