Athletics Eligibility

Academic Eligibility

First marking period: All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are academically eligible.

Second, third, and fourth marking periods: Students are eligible if they have not failed more than one subject from the preceding marking period as shown on their report card.

Attendance Requirements

Students must be in attendance for a minimum of four hours of instruction to participate in athletic activities that day. Students who sign in after 9:46 a.m. are considered absent and are not eligible to participate or practice.

For events scheduled on weekends, students must be in attendance on the preceding school day to participate.

Behavioral Expectations

First suspension: Student is removed from athletic activity for 10 school days.

Second suspension: Student loses athletic eligibility for the remainder of the school year from the date of the second suspension.

Controlled/dangerous substances: A student found to be in possession of, in control of, or under the influence of any controlled or dangerous substance (drugs, alcohol) will lose athletic eligibility for the remainder of the school year from the date of the incident.
