Principal's Message

It is my distinct privilege to welcome our Memorial Colts and ask that you join me in this journey of exciting times ahead! My name is Dan Cugini and I am honored to be your Principal of Memorial Middle School. 


Before joining Spotswood I was an Assistant Principal in two school districts and previously taught middle and high school social studies. Building lasting relationships with students is very important to me so that they know, starting with the principal, we always have their best interests at heart. I love being involved in the process of our students' learning, and it is very important to make sure that our students succeed in all ways possible!

When you walk through the doors of Memorial Middle School, the energy and excitement cannot be missed. My main focus is to ensure that all members of our school community are safe, supported, and prepared to learn each day. 

One of the many things that makes the Spotswood Community so special is the strong culture of involvement. Memorial prides itself in connecting with families so that all parts of a student’s day are covered, from pick up to drop-off. A central point that I always want to highlight is student success, which cannot be achieved without family partnership.

Memorial Middle School is the perfect environment for our students to experience the next steps in their educational journey. A child’s three years of middle school can bring unique events and our staff are equipped to ensure each student is on the correct path to achieve success. Through interactive and rigorous classes that prepare students for high school and academic support with high performance in mind, our goal is to equip Memorial students with the skills they need to tackle each and every challenge they are faced with. 

As the educational leader of Memorial Middle School, my goal is to work in partnership with our community to guide our students in their educational journey and I look forward to this collaborative task moving forward. I approach this responsibility with open lines of communication and respect to all members of this great community.
