Memorial students hit the ground running today on the second day of school! All across the school students were engaged in creative and collaborative learning.

Our theme for September is “Belonging.” Belonging means knowing that you are welcomed, accepted, valued, and an important part of a community. Whether your child has been part of our district for years or this is their very first day, they belong here.

The first staff day back is always a special one, it's the one day all year when the entire Spotswood staff comes together in one room to kick off the year. On August 31st, staff returned for a day of professional learning to start the 2026-2027 school year.

Incoming 6th graders took their first step in their middle school careers as they participated in 6th grade orientation on Thursday, August 20th. During this event, students got the chance to tour Memorial Middle School, review their schedule for the first time, practice and set up their lockers, and meet staff members to help better acclimate themselves to the building.

This week we had a great week welcoming all of our new staff members to the district! New teachers, , Child Study Team members, and paraprofessionals came together to learn more about the district, meet their colleagues, and get ready for the start of the school year.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program provides free meals when school is out! Check out the attached flyer for more information.

Last night the Board of Education recognized and celebrated this years Educators and Educational Services Professionals of the year. These outstanding staff members are all incredibly deserving of this honor and represent the very best of Spotswood every day.

To end Teacher Appreciation Week, Mrs. Ortizio’s students traveled through the school with a hospitality cart to offer their teachers a special treat.

Mr. Bacchetti’s 8th grade history classes conducted research about the family lineage of the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology.

Mrs. Miller and Ms. Wren’s 8th grade ELA students participated in a silent discussion about the big ideas found in Tuesdays With Morrie.

Honors Science Research Students visited Appleby to lead hands-on science presentations and learning activities for third grade students.

Mrs. Glassen’s Honors Science Research students visited SiRa Dentistry for an interactive learning experience focused on modern dentistry and oral health.

Schools across the district welcomed very special visitors for Take Your Child to Work Day, giving our staff members’ children a behind-the-scenes look at the school day while participating in fun activities alongside staff members.
